NEW PREQUEL TO GAME OF THRONES!
ANOTHER GAME OF THRONES PREQUEL SERIES IS COMING TO HBO!
April 12. 2023.
A new Game of Thrones prequel series to continue George R.R. Martin's universe was announced at Warner Bros. Discovery's Max presentation!

HBO is bringing another Game of Thrones prequel series to its streaming service based on another character from George R.R. Martin's vast Westeros universe. With the recent prequel House of The Dragon's phenomenal success and impending second season in the works, HBO is still riding high on the draw of the original series, which ended after eight seasons in 2019. Several other projects have been rumored or established to be in the works, including a Game of Thrones sequel spin-off devoted to Jon Snow and his adventures over The Wall after the events of the Game of Throne's final episodes.
HBO has announced another Game of Thrones prequel series devoted to one of Martin's characters, Sir Duncan the Tall, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Night. Martin will produce the new series with Ira Parker, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis. β€œA century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naΓ―ve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg," reads the official logline. "Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” Ser Duncan the Tall preceded Barrister Selmy as leader of Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and was a close personal friend of Aegon Targaryen V. In the novels, he was the subject of many songs and stories and part of the rich lore that backs the hit show.
This new Game of Thrones prequel joins several other projects in development other than the Jon Snow series. These projects include a series tentatively titled 9 Voyages, a.k.al Sea Snake, Flea Bottom, and 10,000 Ships. Martin's vast universe of Game of Thrones characters and plot lines, as well as a massive historical swathe of time, provides a perfect opportunity for deeper dives into major and minor characters set within the world of the novels and the original show. Any Game of Thrones universe series is likely to be successful, given the vast appeal of the original series and the ever-growing audience for House of the Dragon, whose second season is expected in the summer of 2024. With ample room between seasons of projects, there is room for more shows set in the same universe.
